Student's handbook

This Student’s Handbook applies to all FIG Image Gateway students with the exception of our FIG Precision Flight Controls Philippine Inc. students. 

Introduction

Welcome parents and students! Congratulations on making the right choice to start your life-transforming journey with F.I.G. Image Gateway’s world-class soft skills programs. 

This Student’s Handbook will be your guide for participating in our online programs. We also encourage you to read our Employee’s Handbook to understand the standards we, faculty and staff members, uphold ourselves as a company to provide you the best service in Asia.

Our faculty and staff members are dedicated to your self-development and success. We would like to assist you in the best way we can.

Our rules and regulations indicated in this Student Handbook are intended to empower our students and to ensure our faculty and staff members are equipped with the necessary resources to properly support our students’ self-development journey. We reserve the right to refuse class attendance to a student until he/she becomes compliant to our regulations.

School Rules and Regulations

  1. Students must attend the two-parts Orientation: New Student Orientation Course and New Student Orientation Session prior attending our online classes. 
  2. Students are not allowed to copy, reproduce, republish, post, broadcast, transmit, make available to the public any FIG Image Gateway intellectual properties, including but not limited to Student Workbook (online or printed), Powerpoint Modules, Teaching Aids, Presentation Materials, Lesson Guides, Classroom Activities, and Exercises based on Session Goals, Marketing and Sales paraphernalia in both print and non-print media. Infringement of our Intellectual Property Rights shall be dealt with appropriate legal action. 
  3. Students must follow our Class Rules. After three warnings for the same offence from our faculty and management staff, the student will face disciplinary actions which could include dismissal from the program without a full refund. 
  4. Student who are unable or failed to attend their scheduled classes can coordinate with their Student Relations Staff for a make-up class subject to class availability. No refund will be given. 
  5. Students who wish to receive a Certificate of Completion must meet the following requirements:
    • Attend all their scheduled online classes
    • Pay for the post-exam fees
    • Take the post-exam and receive a minimum of 80% mark

Orientation

All new students, including returning Alumna, are required to attend our two-parts Orientation prior attending our online classes: 

  1. New Student Orientation Course 
    • A self-paced online course about our School Rules and Regulations, Class Rules and Technical Support Instructions.
    • New students are required to finish this course at least once.
    • Found under your Courses.
      • Go to https://www.figimagegateway.org
      • Click the Profile Icon on the top right of the page.
      • Log in using your Student’s username and password. 
      • Hover on the Profile Icon again, and choose Courses from the drop-down menu.
      • Choose New Student Orientation Course.
    • Students are required to:
      • Submit two photos (2 x 2 headshot, and 11 x 8.5 full body shot). They are not required to be taken professionally. These photos are for learning purposes only. They will not be used for any marketing unless agreed upon in writing by the student or their parents (for students under the age of 18). 
      • Confirm that you have read and understood as well as agree to our School Rules and Regulations, Class Rules and Technical Support Instructions. For students under the age of 18, parents are required to sign in their behalf.
  2. New Student Orientation Session 
    • An hour and a half online group zoom meeting lead by your Student Relations Staff.
    • The New Student Orientation Course is a pre-requisite for the Online Orientation Session. 
    • New students are required to attend at least once. If a student needs a refresher, he/she can attend a New Student Orientation Session again by contacting their Student Relations Staff.
    • New students will receive an email indicating the schedule and details of an available Orientation Session. Students are required to confirm if they are attending prior the session.

Class Rules

  1. Students under the age of 10 years old must have a parent or guardian nearby who is able to assist them if needed.
  2. Students must treat their classmates, faculty and staff members with respect. We have zero tolerance for any forms of bullying and discriminatory language.
  3. Students must be present 10 minutes before the schedule class for the Third-Party Apps Accessibility Check and required materials check.
  4. Student must sign in through Zoom using their first name. For the security of our students, unknown usernames will be prohibited from entry.
  5. Students must have the required materials ready before the online class.
    • The list is found at the Instructions unit under the Introductions module of the corresponding online Student Workbook. The list is also included in the email reminder.
    • If the student realize they are missing some materials, please prevent class disruption by gathering the materials while the class is on-going.
    • Students without the required materials are welcome to participate with the use of alternative materials such as a sheet of paper.
  6. Students must follow a BUSINESS SMART CASUAL dress code when attending online classes:
    • Long-sleeved executive/ business shirts, slacks, and leather shoes are prescribed for men. Jeans/ Denims, Shorts & Cargo Pangs are not allowed.
    • No revealing or low cut blouse tops or dresses, tight mini skirts, jeans/ denims for women.
    • No spaghetti strapped tops, tube tops, halter tops, backless tops allowed without a cover-up (e.g. blazer/ coat; shawl; wrap).
    • For dresses or skirts that are 4-5 inches higher above the knee, hosiery or tights must be worn underneath.
    • No slippers, rubber shoes, or sneakers. 
  7. Students must have the appropriate learning environment.
    • Some modules include activities such as walking and standing that requires wider space. If a session need a particular learning environment, it will be stated It will also be stated in the email reminder at the Instructions unit under the Introductions module of the corresponding online Student Workbook.
    • Choose a learning environment with the least background noise.
    • During Figure Control and Body Language online classes, choose the Speaker’s View setting on Zoom.
  8. Students must use a laptop or a desktop computer during the Zoom Meeting Session. For optimal class participation, it is beneficial (although not required) that the students also have a smartphone with them to access our online Student Workbook and third-party applications such as Kahoot! and Padlet.
  9. Students must position the computer camera properly to show their full face.
  10. Students must mute their microphone when they are not speaking.
  11. Students must limit distractions during the sessions by avoiding multi-tasking including accessing social media and other forms of communication. Phones must be set in silent mode.
  12. Students must send a private message to the faculty or staff member present if they need to go on a bathroom break.

Online Classroom Instructions

  1. Access your Online Classroom by following these steps:

    • Access your Online Classroom (see instructions above).
    • Click the corresponding Online Student Workbook.
    • Click the corresponding page.
    • After meeting the requirements on the page, press “Mark as Completed” to save your progress. 
    • NOTE: Students can continue accessing their Online Student Workbook even after graduating from the program.
  3. Important pages from the Online Student Workbooks: 
    • Learning Objectives shows the session goals for the online class.
    • Instructions lists required materials, learning environment and Zoom Meeting details for the online class.
    • Teacher’s Evaluation asks questions regarding the student’s experience with the Trainer to improve the online class.

Zoom Instructions

  1. Join the online class by opening the Zoom App. When prompted, enter the Meeting ID and Password which is on the first chapter of the online Student Handbook or on their email reminder.
  2. Sign in using the student’s first name. For the security of our students, unknown usernames will be prohibited from entry.
  3. Once approved by the Zoom Host, double check if both video and audio are working properly.
  4. Test your Mute and Unmute button (bottom right side) to check if your microphone is functioning properly. 
  5. Test the Reaction button (bottom middle). The options include: Raise Hand, Thumbs Up, Next, Too Fast, and Too Slow.
  6. Find the Chat Box button (bottom middle). This is very important for it is where the Zoom Host will share the link to third-party apps, as well as where students can share their comments. 
  7. If students need to take a bathroom break, follow the following steps:
    • Click on the Chat Box button.
    • Change the recipient from “everyone” to the name of the Zoom Host or the Trainer.
    • Send a message indicating you need to go to the bathroom.

Kahoot! Instructions

Kahoot is a game-based learning platform. We will use this application for interactive quizzes and polls. 

  1. The Zoom host will send the link and code at the beginning of the class through the Zoom Chat Box. It will also be included in the email reminder.
  2. For optimal participation, students are encourage to use their mobile phones to access the links rather than using their desktop/ laptop browser.
  3. At the Kahoot! website, use the given code when prompted to “Enter Code.” 
  4. During the Kahoot! activities, the Trainer will share his or her screen through Zoom, so everyone can participate together. 
  5. Wait for the cue from the Trainer when to use the Kahoot! application as well as which questions to answer. 
  6. Students can only see shapes and colours on their cellphones. The choices these shapes and colours signify is found at the Trainer’s shared Zoom screen. 
  7. Students need to choose before the given time is up. 
  8. Every time a student gets to choose the right answer, he/she will receive points.

Padlet Instructions

Padlet is a bulletin board-like online platform. Participants are able to post text, link, photo and video in real time. We will use this application for interactive discussions. 

  1. The Zoom host will send the link and code at the beginning of the class through the Zoom Chat Box. It will also be included in the email reminder. Please keep these links prepared for class.
  2. For optimal participation, students are encourage to use their mobile phones to access the links rather than using their desktop/ laptop browser.
  3. During the Padlet activities, the Trainer will share his or her screen through Zoom, so everyone can participate together. 
  4. There will be a question at the upper part of the webpage for the students. Wait for the Trainer’s cue before answering it. 
  5. To post on Padlet, follow these steps:
    • Double click the “plus” sign (bottom right)
    • Once the notepad appears, the students can write text or post various media 
  6. To rate an answer, click on the the number of stars corresponding to your answer at the bottom of a specific post.
